A Day in the Life of Literature Evangelists Another literature evangelist and I started working in Hooper Street, Bunbury, WA, and it wasn't long before we were in a home canvassing a lady and her grandchild, Kirby. The lady liked the books by Dr Wright, and while she didn't purchase, she thought her daughter, June, down the road would be very keen. If we called in the evening, a sale might result. She said she would put in a good word for us when June came to pick up Kirby. So I planned a visit at the daughter's house at 7.00 pm.

We went across the road and met a couple with a family, who decided to pay cash for the whole set the following week.

In the afternoon we met Lorraine, an older person with two children. The canvass was going well and just at the crucial stage, coming to the close, who should drive into the yard but Allan, the man of the house. Allan stepped into the lounge room and by his rough appearance, I thought it wouldn't be long before we were on our way. He was the last person I thought would be interested in health books. “0 ye of little faith.” Anyway, much to my surprise he sat down like a lamb and was just as interested as Lorraine. The end result was that this couple also bought the whole set. Another miracle!

After dinner I went out by myself to follow up the call backs, and the first house to call on at 7.00 pm was June, the lady whom I mentioned earlier. I had just putted up in the dimly lit street when I heard someone calling out to me from across the road, “Are you the fellow selling Dr Wright's health books?” Well, that was music to my ears. I assured him I was the man and would be happy to help in any way possible. This young man was the son of Lorraine, who purchased the books in the afternoon and had encouraged him to buy a set also. An appointment was made for the next day, resulting in another sale of the full set of books. Praise the Lord!

I then went to the house to meet June. Kirby, the 12 year old daughter, was there, also keen to persuade Mum into buying these books. Both Mum up the road and Kirby had done a good job, because it wasn't long before June was signing on the dotted line. The most thrilling thing was yet to happen. In the discussion about the volume Today, Tomorrow and You, June opened up about her spiritual journey, how she had been brought up a Catholic, then visited other churches and finally wanted only to read her Bible at home and come close to the Lord. She had a close relationship with God and we both had a lovely time of sharing. At one time in her early days she feared reading the book of Revelation, but now was keen to know more about it. She worked in the law courts as a secretary and saw many horrible things happening in people's lives. I arranged a call back on Sabbath afternoon to continue our conversation. I had prayer with her and thanked God for bringing us both together and to share about the amazing God we serve.
